Chapter- 1

The Honest Boy – Short Story

Chinna was a bright boy studying in grade 4. He loved reading books and playing with his little pet kid, Tara. One day, on his way home from school, he saw beautiful tinkling bells at Chacha’s shop. He wanted to buy them, but when he checked his pocket, his money was missing. Feeling sad, he returned home.

Seeing him upset, his mother Kamala comforted him and promised to give him money. Later, they went to the market to buy fruits. While buying pineapples, the fruit seller mistakenly gave Chinna extra money.

Chinna happily told his mother and asked if he could use it to buy the bells. But Kamala explained that keeping extra money was wrong and called it stealing. She reminded him how sad he felt when he lost his own money.

Understanding his mistake, Chinna returned the extra money to the fruit seller, who praised him for his honesty. Proud of him, his mother took him to Chacha’s shop, and he finally bought the bells.

At home, Chinna tied the bells around Tara’s neck. The sweet tinkling sound made him smile, knowing he had done the right thing.
