Active Voice – Definition (English)

Active Voice is a form of a sentence in which the subject performs the action of the verb. In active voice, the focus is on who does the action.

Active Voice (कर्तृवाच्य) वह वाक्य होता है जिसमें कर्ता स्वयं कार्य करता है। इसमें वाक्य का मुख्य जोर कार्य करने वाले (कर्ता) पर होता है।

Example:
Ram writes a letter. (राम पत्र लिखता है।)

(Ram = subject, does the action) (राम = कर्ता, कार्य कर रहा है)

Passive Voice – Definition (English)

Passive voice is a sentence structure in which the subject receives the action rather than performing it.

In passive voice, the focus is on the action or the object, not on the doer (agent).

Passive Voice (कर्मवाच्य) वह वाक्य होता है जिसमें कर्ता (काम करने वाला) पर ज़ोर न होकर कर्म (जिस पर काम हो रहा है) पर ज़ोर दिया जाता है।

इसमें कर्ता क्रिया नहीं करता, बल्कि क्रिया का प्रभाव सहता है।

Example:

The letter is written by Amit. (Here, the letter receives the action.)

पत्र अमित द्वारा लिखा गया है। (यहाँ पत्र पर काम हुआ है।)

1. Present Indefinite Tense

1. He writes a letter. - A letter is written by him.
   वह एक पत्र लिखता है। - एक पत्र उसके द्वारा लिखा जाता है।

2. She cleans the room. - The room is cleaned by her.
   वह कमरा साफ करती है। - कमरा उसके द्वारा साफ किया जाता है।

3. It opens the door. - The door is opened by it.
   यह दरवाज़ा खोलता है। - दरवाज़ा इसके द्वारा खोला जाता है।

4. You teach English. - English is taught by you.
   तुम अंग्रेज़ी पढ़ाते हो। - अंग्रेज़ी तुम्हारे द्वारा पढ़ाई जाती है।

5. We play cricket. - Cricket is played by us.
   हम क्रिकेट खेलते हैं। → क्रिकेट हमारे द्वारा खेला जाता है।

6. They sell fruits. - Fruits are sold by them.
   वे फल बेचते हैं। - फल उनके द्वारा बेचे जाते हैं।

7. Amit writes a story. - A story is written by Amit.
   अमित एक कहानी लिखता है। - एक कहानी अमित द्वारा लिखी जाती है।

8. He is writing a letter. - A letter is being written by him.
   वह एक पत्र लिख रहा है। - एक पत्र उसके द्वारा लिखा जा रहा है।

9. She is cooking food. - Food is being cooked by her.
   वह खाना बना रही है। - खाना उसके द्वारा बनाया जा रहा है।

10. It is making noise. - Noise is being made by it.
    यह शोर कर रहा है। - शोर इसके द्वारा किया जा रहा है।

11. You are watching a movie. - A movie is being watched by you.
    तुम फ़िल्म देख रहे हो। → फ़िल्म तुम्हारे द्वारा देखी जा रही है।

12. We are cleaning the house. - The house is being cleaned by us.
    हम घर साफ कर रहे हैं। - घर हमारे द्वारा साफ किया जा रहा है।

13. They are building a house. - A house is being built by them.
    वे घर बना रहे हैं। - घर उनके द्वारा बनाया जा रहा है।

14. Amit is teaching students. - Students are being taught by Amit.
    अमित छात्रों को पढ़ा रहा है। - छात्र अमित द्वारा पढ़ाए जा रहे हैं।

    वह एक पत्र लिख चुका है। - एक पत्र उसके द्वारा लिखा जा चुका है।

    वह कमरा साफ कर चुकी है। - कमरा उसके द्वारा साफ किया जा चुका है।

17. It has broken the glass. - The glass has been broken by it.
    इसने शीशा तोड़ दिया है। - शीशा इसके द्वारा तोड़ा गया है।

    हम कार्यक्रम आयोजित करेंगे। - कार्यक्रम हमारे द्वारा आयोजित किया जाएगा।

48. They will build a bridge. - A bridge will be built by them.
    वे पुल बनाएँगे। - पुल उनके द्वारा बनाया जाएगा।

    यह सड़क नुकसान कर चुका होगा। - सड़क इसके द्वारा नुकसान की जा चुकी होगी।

3. It did not break the glass. - The glass was not broken by it.

4. I have not completed the work. - The work has not been completed by me.
   मैंने काम पूरा नहीं किया है। - काम मेरे द्वारा पूरा नहीं किया गया है।

5. You were not reading the book. - The book was not being read by you.
   तुम किताब नहीं पढ़ रहे थे। - किताब तुम्हारे द्वारा नहीं पढ़ी जा रही थी।

6. We do not watch this movie. - This movie is not watched by us.
   हम यह फिल्म नहीं देखते हैं। - यह फिल्म हमारे द्वारा नहीं देखी जाती है।

7. They did not solve the problem. - The problem was not solved by them.
   उन्होंने समस्या हल नहीं की। - समस्या उनके द्वारा हल नहीं की गई।

8. Rohit is not painting the wall. - The wall is not being painted by Rohit.
   रोहित दीवार नहीं रंग रहा है। - दीवार रोहित द्वारा नहीं रंगी जा रही है।

9. He has not repaired the bike. - The bike has not been repaired by him.
   उसने बाइक ठीक नहीं की है। - बाइक उसके द्वारा ठीक नहीं की गई है।

10. She did not sing the song. - The song was not sung by her.
    उसने गाना नहीं गाया। - गाना उसके द्वारा नहीं गाया गया।

11. I am not writing an email.  An email is not being written by me.
    मैं ईमेल नहीं लिख रहा हूँ। - ईमेल मेरे द्वारा नहीं लिखा जा रहा है।

12. You have not cleaned the room. - The room has not been cleaned by you.
    तुमने कमरा साफ नहीं किया है। - कमरा तुम्हारे द्वारा साफ नहीं किया गया है।

13. We were not discussing the issue. - The issue was not being discussed by us.
    हम मुद्दे पर चर्चा नहीं कर रहे थे। - मुद्दे पर हमारे द्वारा चर्चा नहीं की जा रही थी।

14. They will not complete the project. - The project will not be completed by them.
    वे परियोजना पूरी नहीं करेंगे। - परियोजना उनके द्वारा पूरी नहीं की जाएगी।

15. He will not write a report. - A report will not be written by him.
