Common Mistakes in Personal Pronouns
1. Using Subject Pronoun Instead of Object Pronoun
❌ He gave the book to I.
✅ He gave the book to me.
👉 Rule: After a preposition (to, for, with), always use an object pronoun.
2. Using Object Pronoun as Subject
❌ Me and Rohan went to the market.
✅ Rohan and I went to the market.
👉 “I” is used as a subject.
3. Confusing Possessive Adjective and Possessive Pronoun
❌ This is my.
✅ This is mine.
👉
-
My = possessive adjective (before noun) → My book
-
Mine = possessive pronoun (no noun after it)
4. Overusing Reflexive Pronouns
❌ Myself went to the school.
✅ I went to the school.
👉 “Myself” is used only when the subject and object are the same.
Example: I hurt myself.
5. Using “He/She” for Things
❌ The table is old. He is broken.
✅ The table is old. It is broken.
👉 Use “It” for non-living things.
6. Double Subject Mistake
❌ My brother he is very kind.
✅ My brother is very kind.
👉 Do not repeat subject with pronoun.
7. Confusing “Their” and “There”
❌ There house is big.
✅ Their house is big.
👉
-
Their = possessive
-
There = place
