The Story: The Secret of the Locked Room

Kalu was a hardworking gardener. He saved 1,000 gold coins for his old age. He hid them under a pear tree in the royal garden. One morning, Kalu started crying. "My gold is gone!" he told Birbal.

Birbal was very clever. He asked, "Who knew about the gold?" Kalu said, "No one! I dug a hole and hid it secretly."

Birbal called all the doctors (Vaidyas). He asked, "Which part of the pear tree is medicine?" One doctor said, "The root of this tree is very rare. I used it to cure a greedy servant's master yesterday."

Birbal smiled. He had found the thief. The servant had dug up the root for medicine and found the gold!
