A verb is a word that shows an action, state, or condition of the subject.
Verb (क्रिया) वह शब्द होता है जो किसी काम, स्थिति, या अवस्था को दर्शाता है।

How to identify a verb in the sentence?

👉 English:
How can we identify the verb in a sentence?
Ask yourself: “What is the subject doing?”
The action or state you find is the verb.

👉 Hindi:
वाक्य में क्रिया (Verb) को कैसे पहचानें?
अपने आप से पूछें: “Subject क्या कर रहा है?”
जो काम या स्थिति आपको मिले, वही क्रिया (Verb) है।

Example to identify Subject/Object/Verb

👉 English:
Ram is playing cricket.
Question: What is Ram doing? → Playing (Verb)

👉 Hindi:
राम क्रिकेट खेल रहा है।
प्रश्न: राम क्या कर रहा है? → खेल रहा है (क्रिया)

Examples:

1. She gives me a gift.

👉 Who gives? → She
👉 What does she do? → gives
👉 What does she give? → a gift (Direct Object)
👉 To whom? → me (Indirect Object)
👉 हिंदी: कौन देता है? → वह, क्या करती है? → देती है, क्या देती है? → उपहार, किसे? → मुझे

2. Ram is playing cricket.

👉 Who is playing? → Ram
👉 What is he doing? → is playing
👉 What is he playing? → cricket (Object)
👉 हिंदी: कौन खेल रहा है? → राम, क्या कर रहा है? → खेल रहा है, क्या खेल रहा है? → क्रिकेट

3. She does not like coffee.

👉 Who does not like? → She
👉 What does she do? → does not like
👉 What does she not like? → coffee (Object)
👉 हिंदी: कौन पसंद नहीं करता? → वह, क्या करती है? → पसंद नहीं करती, क्या पसंद नहीं करती? → कॉफी

4. Are you reading a book?

👉 Who is reading? → you
👉 What are you doing? → are reading
👉 What are you reading? → a book (Object)
👉 हिंदी: कौन पढ़ रहा है? → तुम, क्या कर रहे हो? → पढ़ रहे हो, क्या पढ़ रहे हो? → किताब

5. Why did he call you?

👉 Whom did he call? → you (Object)

9. We are not watching the movie.

👉 Who is not watching? → We
👉 What are we doing? → are not watching
👉 What are we not watching? → the movie (Object)
👉 हिंदी: कौन नहीं देख रहा है? → हम, क्या कर रहे हैं? → नहीं देख रहे हैं, क्या नहीं देख रहे हैं? → फिल्म

👉 What are you doing? → are eating
